This project involved removing the existing floor covering, prepping the floor, and installing an epoxy coating system to the Exhibition Hall at The Classic Center in Athens, GA.
The total size of the floor was approximately 20,000 SF. There was a short window of time for completion of the project so proper planning and execution was vital. The owner had prior commitments that were booked, and the space had to be ready.
The existing floor was failing due to excessive moisture in the slab, so we needed a product that was not only durable, but also breathable, to handle the moisture. The system we chose was General Polymers GP 3460 / 3462 as it would provide for both conditions. After the existing floor covering was removed, we prepped the slab using dust contained planetary diamond grinders to remove the adhesive and provide the proper profile for the epoxy system. The epoxy system was installed utilizing an eight man crew to meet the deadlines.
